Paris Saint-Germain and Auxerre faced off this Friday at Abbé-Deschamps as part of the 14th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025. The match ended in a 0-0 draw. After the match, Auxerre coach Christophe Pélissier spoke at a press conference. He highlighted the performance of his goalkeeper Donovan Léon (32), as well as his team’s efforts in a very complicated match.
Pélissier “Donovan Léon sublimated the team’s work.”
“Donovan Léon sublimated the team’s work. He enabled us to take this point, which in mental terms is worth three, and I’m very pleased for him because he was much criticized at the start of the season and so he gave the best of answers.
On the whole, we were focused and applied. If we’re a bit demanding, we should have been better with the ball during the first twenty minutes of the second half, when we lost a bit too much of it. But with all our efforts, it was logical and understandable.
We also took the point for respecting our organization. We suffered a lot, PSG weren’t effective, but it was above all our goalkeeper who was very good”, comments relayed by L’Equipe.
Pélissier is understandably pleased to have a point, as it was far from a foregone conclusion against PSG. It came down to very little, with a bit of clumsiness on the part of the Parisians, a great performance from his keeper and the fighting spirit of his players. He’s not forgetting what was positive for his team, and that must be a pleasure. At the same time, he’s honest about the fact that this draw is a little fortunate.
But of course, it’s good to take, especially for a club like Auxerre, whose main aim is to secure their place in the relegation zone as quickly as possible. This point can only be a good thing, and it also shows solidarity. But we mustn’t relax in our next match.
