Senny Mayulu, a 20-year-old midfielder/forward for Paris Saint-Germain, sustained a muscle injury during the France U21 team’s match against Estonia (Euro qualifier) and had to leave the pitch in the first half. He has been ruled out for the remainder of the international break and is returning to Paris for further medical checks, as officially announced by the French Football Federation. The same applies to Ethan Mbappé (a 19-year-old forward for Lille).
“After leaving the pitch with injuries during yesterday’s match against Estonia (2-0), Ethan Mbappé (pictured) and Senny Mayulu have been forced to withdraw from the remainder of the U21 squad’s training camp.
In consultation with the medical staffs of both the national team and their respective clubs, they will return to their clubs this evening to undergo further examinations to determine the length of their layoff.”
This is undoubtedly a blow for Mayulu, who has seen limited playing time during the start of the season with PSG. Now, the hope is that the medical results will be relatively positive, indicating a fairly short absence. We can only keep our fingers crossed for the ‘Titi’—the club’s academy product—and for the club itself, which loses a valuable option from its squad.
