This Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain travels to face Manchester City in Matchday 2 of the Champions League league phase. Speaking to Canal+, Ousmane Dembélé—the 29-year-old Paris forward—addressed various questions regarding himself (as he had already done in a press conference) following the days off he took last weekend.
Dembélé: “We’re ready for this big match.”
We’ve heard a lot of talk about you in recent weeks—specifically that you weren’t physically ready. Can you put our minds at ease?
“There’s a lot of noise, but it doesn’t change anything about my career; there’s always been noise. I’m just focusing on tomorrow’s match.”
Are you ready?
“I’m ready. Personally, and the team is too. We’re ready for this big match.”
Dembélé: “It actually makes me laugh.”
You had time to rest—the coach places a lot of emphasis on that—how did you feel about it?
“No, it feels good. That said, we love playing football matches. It’s the coach who decides when we need to rest. It doesn’t bother me; it actually makes me laugh. We hope to play 70 matches this season, so he’s managing everyone’s workload.”
