This Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain hosted FC Barcelona for the third matchday of the Champions League group stage, securing a 4-2 victory. Speaking to PSG TV, 21-year-old forward Désiré Doué reflected on the encounter.
Doué: “We managed to be very clinical”
“We knew it was going to be a very high-level match. We rose to the occasion tonight, showcasing some great play. We were very clinical. The goal was simply to score more than them, because we knew they would eventually find a way through. They are a high-quality side, but we managed to come away with the win tonight—it’s fantastic.
Regardless of what happens during the match, we always try to stay focused. We know our own strengths, and we’re confident that, at some point, we’ll find an opening. Whether we’ve just conceded or just scored, we know we have to stay locked in on what we do best—and tonight, we did that very well.”
It was a brilliant, resounding victory for PSG, who managed to triumph at home against their arch-rivals, FC Barcelona. The visitors arrived at the Parc des Princes undefeated, eager to truly settle the score following their recent encounters. Despite their good intentions and determination, the Parisian club proved superior once again. Although the Blaugrana managed to level the score twice, they ultimately collapsed late in the game under the collective power of the PSG side.
Barça didn’t play poorly tonight; rather, PSG was, once again, simply a cut above. With every passing match, it becomes increasingly difficult to find an opponent capable of truly challenging this Parisian team. The reality in October will obviously not be the same as in March, but it is hard not to dream of a third star when you see the level at which this PSG side is playing.
