Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (1st), held a press conference this Thursday ahead of tomorrow’s match against Le Havre (18th) at the Stade Océane (kick-off at 7:00 PM, CET), as part of the 9th round of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. On the sidelines of this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “It serves as both motivation and pressure to keep winning.”
You reclaimed the top spot in the league against Lyon—is that significant?
It has always been our goal, right from day one. We accept our status as favorites. We started the way we did, and things have been very positive since then. Heading into the ninth matchday in first place acts as both motivation and pressure to keep winning.
Is the group’s mindset—with substitutes coming on and making a difference—a key strength?
It’s vital for the team, especially for the players who came off the bench and proved decisive. It speaks to the kind of team we are. We often talk about our “DNA,” along with our supporters. We need to enjoy this and keep doing what we’ve been doing.
Luis Enrique: “There will be difficult moments to navigate.”
Le Havre is at the bottom of the table, but should you still be wary? After all, beating PSG is a huge motivator for them.
It’s clear they didn’t get off to the best start, but every time we’ve played there, we’ve faced challenges. It’s always dangerous to face a team perceived as “weaker.” We have to stay focused and alert to any potential issues. Regardless of the fact that we’re first and they’re last, there will be difficult moments to navigate. It’s a test—a challenge for us. We are constantly looking for new sources of motivation to keep performing at a high level.
