Paris Saint-Germain secured a 1-5 victory against Le Havre this Friday at the Stade Océane, as part of the 9th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. Following the match, PSG manager Luis Enrique spoke to Ligue1+.
Luis Enrique: “It’s not easy to play here.”
A good match?
Yes, yes—a good match. It’s not easy to play here, given the highly charged atmosphere. We did everything we could; I believe we were the superior side. That’s football for you—we managed to make the difference through counter-attacks, which led to the goals. I think we handled the situation well.
I thought your team looked very strong today.
Not a single PSG player had a bad game! (laughs)
Luis Enrique: “They deserve to play more.”
There was a high level of intensity right from the start, wasn’t there?
I believe that every time we have the chance to field these players—giving them more minutes and more time to play together—things will inevitably improve. Players need match time to feel comfortable and perform at this level; that’s just the reality. I’m happy about that because they deserve to play more. But this is Paris Saint-Germain: only 11 players can be on the pitch, with 5 more on the bench ready to come on. It’s all very positive—we won, and we’re very happy.
What are the instructions for Hakimi? Is he a defender or an attacker?
Well, as you know, he’s an attacker whenever we have the ball—he has the quality to do what he does—but he’s also required to defend whenever we don’t have the ball.
Luis Enrique: “It’s a real pleasure to be here.”
And what about not speaking to the referees?
Exactly—he knows that; he’s the captain. We aim to show, at all times, that we are in control of the match. You have to stay focused on what’s important—not on the referee, the crowd, or the supporters.
Are you the most successful coach in the history of Paris Saint-Germain?
It speaks to how fortunate I am to have players like these, and to be at a club where the sporting management and everyone else work together. It’s a real pleasure to be here.
