Paris Saint-Germain is keen to retain David Boly (17), a young defender developed at the club, whose current deal runs until June 2027. According to L’Équipe, PSG has put forward a significant financial offer, despite intense interest from elsewhere in Europe. While the player would prefer to remain with the club where he came up through the ranks, he is seeking more playing time in Ligue 1.
A substantial offer, but with a sporting condition
“With his contract set to expire in June 2027, Boly has yet to sign a professional deal. The Parisian leadership has presented him with a very lucrative financial proposal—a clear sign of confidence, especially at a time when PSG claims it no longer wishes to hand out oversized contracts. The competition is immense; everyone from Europe’s elite clubs to more modest sides has tried their luck in recent months. Yet, in Boly’s mind, Paris holds the advantage. A player with a strong personality, the defender wants to continue his career at his formative club, but on one condition: he must be given more opportunities to feature in Ligue 1.”
PSG appears to have several factors in its favor to convince David Boly—not least the player’s own desire to continue his journey in Paris. This is a significant advantage given the level of competition. However, the situation raises an interesting question: how much space is the club truly prepared to offer its young talents?
While the financial offer reflects a certain level of trust, Boly clearly wants that trust to be mirrored on the pitch—which is entirely understandable. At 17, his goal cannot simply be to secure a lucrative contract; he also needs to develop, gain experience, and gradually earn his place within the squad rotation.
Of course, a distinction must be made between long-term sporting prospects and guaranteed playing time. Luis Enrique cannot promise minutes regardless of a player’s performance or the level of competition within the squad. However, Paris can present a genuine development plan to its defender. The player appears willing to stay, and the club wants to keep him—their intentions are aligned. What remains is to reach an agreement on the next steps in his career path. For the time being, no signing has been announced.
