On December 18, PSG won 4-2 at Louis II. Leading Ligue 1 at the close of play, with a ten-point advantage over runners-up Marseille, Paris Saint-Germain have recorded some impressive results in their first 16 Ligue 1 matches.
As revealed by Opta, Paris Saint-Germain have not lost any of their first 16 league games this season (12 wins, 4 draws). This is the sixth time in their history that PSG have achieved such a feat. It’s a good omen, too, since the last 10 teams to have achieved such a feat won Ligue 1 at the end of the season.
With 24 wins and 8 draws, the Parisians have now gone 32 matches without an away defeat in Ligue 1. Their last defeat came on February 11, 2023, against Monaco (3-1). As a reminder, AC Milan hold the record with 38 matches unbeaten away from home, between 1991-1993.
When it comes to beating Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain don’t do things by halves, as Opta shows.
Finally, two Parisians are in fine form this season: Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi. The former has scored 4 goals and provided 8 key assists in 15 matches, which is better than his performance last season when he was involved in 11 goals (3 goals, 8 assists) after 26 games played. With 18 matches still to go, Ousmane Dembélé has plenty of time to refine his statistics.
As for Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan has provided 7 assists in all competitions this season. No other Ligue 1 player does better than the full-back. He also overtakes Scherrer Maxwell as the Parisian defender with the most assists in the 21st century, no less.
Paris Saint-Germain are therefore ending the first half of the season on a high note. Despite the loss of Kylian Mbappé and complicated performances in the Champions League, PSG remain impressive in Ligue 1, even against in-form teams such as Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco.
