On Wednesday, the CAF (the African equivalent of UEFA) unveiled the list of nominees for the African Player of the Year award. Achraf Hakimi, the 28-year-old right-back for Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco, is among those nominated.

Following another exceptional season—highlighted, notably, by a second Champions League title won with PSG—it is only logical that Hakimi should be on this list. He is even considered one of the favorites for the award, despite having spent several weeks sidelined by injury. The Moroccan has performed well for both his club and his national team. That said, the competition is stiff, and the outcome is far from a foregone conclusion.
