This Wednesday, CAF (the African equivalent of UEFA) unveiled the list of players nominated for the African Player of the Year award. Achraf Hakimi, the 26-year-old right-back for Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco, is among the nominees.
After an exceptional year, notably marked by a historic season with PSG, it’s only natural that Hakimi would be on this list. He’s even among the favorites for the title. But be warned, it’s not a foregone conclusion. There are some strong contenders, including Mohamed Salah (the 33-year-old striker for Liverpool and Egypt), even though he’s been struggling more lately.
