While the 2025 Club World Cup has just ended, with Chelsea’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final, we already know 4 qualifiers for the next edition, in 2029 in a country yet to be chosen. RMC Sport provides an update on the situation.
“Champions League winners on May 31, PSG have already validated their ticket for the 2029 Club World Cup. The Parisians’ three successors will also be automatically invited to this competition. Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli and Egypt’s Pyramids FC will also be in the running, thanks to a Champions League victory this season, one from the Asian zone (AFC) and the other from the African zone (CAF).
Finally, the Concacaf zone will send Mexico’s CF Cruz Azul to the 2029 Club World Cup. They are the last winners of the 2025 Champions Cup, the biggest competition in this zone, which encompasses North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The next three winners will also be invited, as will the next three winners of the AFC and CAF Champions League”.
You have to bear in mind that it’s the last 4 winners of the Champions League, or its equivalent in another part of the world, who qualify. But it can’t be a club that’s just won, like Paris this season, since that wouldn’t leave time for organization and preparation. So Paris will be at the 2029 World Cup.
Then there’s the UEFA ranking (or equivalent), with a limit of 2 clubs per country, unless, like Brazil this year, there are more than 2 clubs to win the continental competition.
