This Saturday at 7pm (CET) Paris Saint-Germain (1st) will face Angers (8th) at the Stade Raymond-Kopa as part of the 31st matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026. In a press conference, Angers coach Alexandre Dujeux spoke about this match and their Parisian opponent.
Dujeux: “No matter who starts, it won’t be easy.”
A good match against a Paris side that might be rotating its squad?
Every time we’ve played against PSG, we’ve faced top teams. No matter who starts, it won’t be easy. We’re not in the same league as them, but it’s still football. We have to play with all our options.
What are the objectives and keys to the match?
We have to be up to the task, because we want to play a good match, and it’s not easy to get a result. At the end of last season, we were solid against them, and despite the defeat, the match provided a good foundation for the end of the season. We’ll draw inspiration from what we did at the Parc des Princes at the beginning of the season, while trying to be more dangerous. We have to be very spontaneous and take advantage when we have a slight edge.
Dujeux: “It’s interesting to play against this type of team.”
How do you stop Paris?
They are very strong technically and in terms of intensity. They also rotate their players a lot during a match. It’s interesting to play against this type of team, and it should be a source of progress for us.
Hope for Angers?
We will play to our strengths, and we have them. We should be proud of what we’re doing and of our season. I think we need to see this match in a positive light. We have everything to gain from this match,” comments relayed by the Angers club.
The core message from Dujeux is clear: respect PSG, yes; mentally bowing down before kickoff, no. The SCO coach isn’t hiding behind the idea of a Parisian rotation, which he considers almost a non-issue given the intensity, technical quality, and mobility of Luis Enrique’s squad, regardless of the starting eleven. His message is primarily aimed at positioning Angers in the right light: realistic about the gap in the standings, but proud enough of their season to believe in a solid performance.
By recalling the strong performances already delivered against Paris, he seeks to cultivate measured confidence. In his view, SCO must be disciplined, spontaneous, and capable of capitalizing on any advantage to truly make their mark on the game. This tone is interesting because it avoids the two classic pitfalls: an inferiority complex and unnecessary overconfidence. Dujeux is essentially transforming the visit of Paris Saint-Germain into a test of character for his team, rather than simply a friendly match.
