This Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain will be at the San Mamés Stadium to face Athletic Bilbao (kick-off at 9 pm, CET) for Matchday 6 of the 2025-2026 Champions League. On Monday evening, Le Parisien highlighted three doubts surrounding the availability of this match: Ousmane Dembélé (28-year-old forward), Lucas Chevalier (24-year-old goalkeeper), and Désiré Doué (20-year-old midfielder/forward). As a reminder, Lucas Hernandez (29-year-old defender) is suspended, and there is some doubt about the return of Nuno Mendes (23-year-old full-back).
“Dembélé is doubtful due to flu-like symptoms that forced him to stay in bed on Monday while his teammates trained at the Campus.”
Chevalier could, for the second consecutive time, relinquish his place in goal to Russian Matvey Safonov. In recent hours, the French international (1 cap) was still experiencing debilitating pain that prevented him from being at 100%.
Désiré Doué could travel to Bilbao. Since he no longer feels any discomfort in training, a wave of optimism surrounded the former Rennes player regarding a possible return to the squad this Wednesday.
We’ll have to wait for confirmation for everyone, but we suspect the coaching staff will continue with their usual caution. Dembélé will need to recover to play, which is hoped for as he is currently regaining match fitness. There’s no rush for Chevalier, with Matvey Safonov (26 years old) in good form.
As for Doué, there is indeed hope. He was able to train recently. But be warned, playing time is not yet guaranteed. We will know tomorrow if he travels and that would not be a promise of him getting involved.
