Paris Saint-Germain drew 0–0 with Athletic Bilbao this Wednesday at San Mamés Stadium for Matchday 6 of the 2025–2026 Champions League. After the game, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke to Cadena COPE. He regretted not taking the win and praised goalkeeper Unai Simón (28).
Luis Enrique: “We deserved to win the match.”
“I leave feeling sad because I think we deserved to win the match. I’m very happy for Unai Simón. He is an undisputed goalkeeper, the best goalkeeper in the Spanish league without any doubt.”
Luis Enrique’s frustration is easy to understand. PSG did not start very well, but still created several big chances in the first half. The opportunities became even clearer in the second half, which Paris largely dominated. But without scoring, the team brings home only one point.
Unai Simón is partly responsible for that, with several excellent saves. He fully deserves the praise, even if we should avoid the debate about him being “the best goalkeeper in La Liga.” It’s also worth noting, unfortunately, that Paris should have done better in the final third — in both decision-making and execution. PSG still needs to work to regain efficiency.
