Bayern Munich will face Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025-2026 Champions League semi-final (April 28 at the Parc des Princes and May 6 at the Allianz Arena). We will therefore be keeping a close eye on the German team’s performance leading up to the second leg. This past Saturday, April 25, Bayern traveled to Mainz (10th before the match) for Matchday 31 of the Bundesliga. They won 4-3, after struggling mightily for a half.
Bayern’s starting lineup:
Jackson
Diaz – Goretzka – Guerreiro
Ndiaye – Pavlovic
Davoes – Ito – Kim – Laimer
Urbig
Unsurprisingly, given that Bayern Munich have already secured the German title, coach Vincent Kompany made significant changes to his starting eleven. And the substitutes clearly didn’t impress, being thoroughly outplayed and trailing 3-0 at halftime.
Several regular starters then quickly entered the game and turned things around. In particular, Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, and Harry Kane all scored after Nicolas Jackson. This allowed for a remarkable comeback. It confirms Bayern Munich’s strength with its first-choice eleven, but also highlights the clear gap between them and the substitutes.
