Following the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich on Matchday 5, Gonçalo Ramos spoke to FIFA.com in the mixed zone. The 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker, who was making his competitive comeback after a table injury in August, spoke about this important milestone for him, the match and PSG’s situation in the competition.
Gonçalo Ramos: “We’re going to do everything we can to qualify for the next round.
“Finally, I’m back. I feel good, even though we lost. We’re all disappointed, but we’re focused on the next game. I think it was a 50/50 game. The coach told me to help the team press.
All the players are ready to play in any position. We’re going to keep working, it’s not the end of the Champions League, there are three games left, we’re going to do everything we can to qualify for the next round.”
We were all waiting for the return of Gonçalo Ramos, who was sorely lacking as a number 9 to help finish off Paris Saint-Germain’s moves. Unfortunately, with 10 men against 11 and a logical lack of pace, the Portuguese didn’t show much.
His grit, appeals and finishing skills will clearly do him a world of good. There are still 3 matches left in this Champions League phase, so there’s still plenty of room to qualify.
Ramos isn’t a miracle solution, but he’s clearly an asset that can do a lot of good. Let’s hope he can soon find the net again and regain his confidence.
