Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 against Bayern Munich and qualified (5-6 on aggregate) this Wednesday at the Allianz Arena for the second leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League semi-final (final on May 30 against Arsenal). After this qualification, PSG midfielder/forward Désiré Doué (20 years old) spoke in the mixed zone.
Doué said, “That’s what allowed us to win the match.”
What’s the atmosphere like in the squad?
“We’re super happy, we’re celebrating quietly together in the locker room. We’re very happy because it’s a victory where we all fought for each other. We demonstrated a great team spirit once again and we’re really, really happy.”
What are the ingredients for the final?
“We don’t need to add much before a match like this; these are matches where we’re individually highly motivated.” These are the matches we play football for; we’ve dreamed of them since we were little. We put in the same effort as usual, but even more. We attacked, we were well-organized, we defended well as a team, and that’s what allowed us to win the match.
“We always have a lot to learn; that’s what top-level football is all about.”
Anything to improve?
Offensively, we can improve to score more goals. Defensively, we can keep them down. We always have a lot to learn; that’s what top-level football is all about. There will always be flaws, weaknesses. But overall, we played a great match.
Defending our title?
We’re here to win, not to defend anything. We’re here to win.
“We know where we want to go and what we want to achieve this year.”
A different motivation this year?
Last year, we went there without having won anything beforehand. But we’ll be highly motivated; it’s a Champions League final, every final is different. Anything can happen. Before that, we’ll focus on Ligue 1, which we have to play to win the title. After that, we’ll have time to focus on the final and give it our all.
Paris managed to react during a difficult period in the season?
You’re the ones who always say that there are tough times and easier times. We won this time, so it’s going to be ecstatic. But we’re not getting carried away. We’re staying humble. We’re confident in our abilities, we know where we want to go and what we want to achieve this year.
