Rennes coach Habib Beye was at a press conference. When asked about Paris Saint-Germain’s ultra-domination, he assured us that the Parisian club was far superior to all the other teams, but took aim at the other Ligue 1 clubs who hadn’t done the job and shouldn’t be so many points behind PSG.
Beye “They’re hyper consistent, surely superior to all the Ligue 1″ teams.
“I’m going to be more pragmatic. Today when you’re a team chasing Paris, you only play them twice in the year. So the delta could be six points. If the delta is thirty points, it’s because you’ve dropped some during your run against the other teams.
They’re hyper-consistent, certainly superior to all the teams in Ligue 1, but on the other hand, the point differential (…) can’t depend on Paris Saint-Germain. Paris Saint-Germain will be champions, they deserve it, and we must wish them the best of luck for the rest of their European campaign.”
At last, some accurate and precise words on the situation. The point difference is not due to Parisian ultra-domination. It’s due to a general failure on the part of the Ligue 1 clubs, who are supposed to be much closer to PSG. In fact, each Ligue 1 team only plays PSG twice, for a total of 6 points.
There’s nothing normal about Paris being champions with 6 games to go, while Monaco, Marseille, Lyon, Lille and Rennes have all been disappointing. We hope that people will become aware of this rather than crying against the Parisian club. You have to put your own house in order before criticizing others. In that respect, Beye’s words were right on the money.
