At 6.45pm on Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain faced Stade Brestois in the first leg of their Champions League play-off (0-3, video summary here). After the match, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique spoke to PSG TV.
Enrique “we want to prepare for the second leg as usual.”
“I think today was a complicated game as usual. I think Brest deserved to score a few goals. But this 3-0 result for us is very important. It’s a special moment of confidence, and we’re very happy.
Every game we play against Brest is a problem, because they play in so many different ways: they can have the ball, press, play with long balls… It’s very complicated. But our motivation is very high, and we want to prepare for the return match as usual.”
A fine first victory for the club from the capital, who managed to win the first leg by a three-goal margin without conceding a single goal. An away match, especially in the Champions League, is never easy. This comprehensive 0-3 win is therefore no mean feat, and gives PSG more than enough confidence in their chances of reaching the last 16 of the competition.
Of course, they will have to confirm this trend next Wednesday at the Parc des Princes. And they must show no signs of letting up, since it’s clear that anything can happen very quickly on the European stage. With the same ingredients, the club from the capital should reach the next round without a hitch, but to do so, they will have to approach these 90 minutes with a great deal of seriousness and determination.
