On Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain travelled to face Stade Brestois in Ligue 1’s 20th round of matches. After the victory, Senny Mayulu, the capital club’s 18-year-old midfielder, spoke to PSG TV.
Mayulu “We need to keep our heads on our shoulders”.
“It was a tough match, the opponent was tough, especially at the start of the game. We managed to score. That created space and more opportunities for us.
My entrance?
It’s pretty intense, so as soon as you warm up, you have to get into it, concentrate and then play simply.
Because a match like this is intense. You have to keep your head on your shoulders. You take them as they come, you concentrate and you want to win everything. So obviously it’s good to win this first match of the three we’re going to play against them.”
PSG’s first of three wins against Brest. Although Ligue 1 is obviously important, the hardest part will be meeting them again in the Champions League on February 11 and 19. Thanks to this victory, PSG have taken the psychological ascendancy, but they’ll need to confirm this trend in the first leg.
Brest are always a difficult team to play against, especially away from home. Let’s hope that PSG’s accumulated experience will make these two matches easier for them. Even so, anything can happen in the Champions League, and once you’ve reached the semi-finals, you can’t underestimate any team.
