Paris Saint-Germain will take part this week in a tribute honoring the victims of the flash floods that struck Nepal on August 26. As announced by UEFA, a minute of silence and a message of support will be observed prior to the Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Slovan Bratislava.
A tribute before all Champions League matches
European football will show its support for the people of Nepal during the opening round of the Champions League. UEFA has arranged for specific measures to be taken before all matches played this week, including Paris Saint-Germain’s game at the Parc des Princes.
A moment of silence will be held, and a banner will be displayed as a sign of solidarity and support ahead of all UEFA Champions League matches this week.
The banner will carry the message “You are not alone Nepal”.
UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin said: “The entire European football family will stand together before this week’s matches to express our deepest condolences and our support to the people of Nepal. We wish them strength and resilience as they continue to recover from this tragedy and its aftermath.”
PSG will therefore be directly involved in this tribute when hosting Slovan Bratislava. This match will mark the Parisians’ entry into the league phase of the 2026-2027 Champions League, featuring this moment of reflection prior to kick-off. It is a commendable initiative following the natural disaster that occurred.
