Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea faced off this Tuesday at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League Round of 16 tie (second leg on March 17). The match ended in a 3-0 victory for PSG (8-2 aggregate score, quarter-final to be played against Liverpool or Galatasaray). After the match, Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior spoke to TNT Sports.
Rosenior: “They didn’t make any mistakes, unlike us.”
You said it needed to be a perfect night, how would you describe this one?
A difficult night, really difficult. We knew it was going to be a tough task, and then there was the start, conceding goals already. We wanted to dominate and attack, but we made mistakes, and at this level, you get punished. After going down 2-0, it became a very difficult night. The opposition’s confidence grew, even though we tried to press them.
What gap do we need to close to go further?
The difference is that they’re clinical. Like on Mayulu’s goal, which came from outside the box. Also, they didn’t make mistakes, unlike us. I want to tell the fans that we’re going to keep working so we don’t have to experience nights like this again.
A lack of experience? Especially for Sarr?
We were missing two players; it was a very difficult night. We had to trust them. It’s a real shame about that mistake; it broke our momentum.
