New Paris Saint-Germain signing Lucas Chevalier, the 23-year-old goalkeeper now under contract until 2030, gave his first interview to PSG TV. The former Lille player spoke about his relationship with Parisian teammates he has met through the French national team, as well as members of the staff he had already worked with at Lille, before sending a message to the supporters.
Chevalier: “I also know quite a few people at the club”
You’ve met some of the team’s players during your time with Les Bleus. Have you already been able to bond with them?
“Yes, I played with Bradley (Barcola) and Désiré (Doué) at youth level, notably at the U21 Euros. We haven’t spoken much recently because they were on holiday while I was working, and it wasn’t official yet. But I’ll be seeing them again very soon.
I also know quite a few people at the club — there are former Lille staff members here in coaching and coordination roles. That makes adapting easier. I’m a discreet person, I come in quietly, but I have no doubt: my personality will make sure everything goes well.”
Chevalier: “I’m a kid living his dream — playing for a huge club”
To conclude, what message would you like to send to the Parisian supporters?
“First of all, I want to thank the President, Luis Campos, coach Luis Enrique, his entire staff, and everyone who worked to bring me here. It’s a huge joy for me to join Paris Saint-Germain; I will wear this shirt with love and ambition.
This is an ambitious club, and I can’t wait to meet the supporters. I’m a kid living his dream — to play for a huge club. And the fact that it’s Paris, the capital’s club, makes it even more special for me. I can’t wait to see the fans at the Parc; I’ll give my very best. Together, we’ll win many trophies. Ici c’est Paris!”
Chevalier already has the advantage of knowing several members of the staff, some players, and the Ligue 1 environment very well. His adaptation period should therefore be short, as he can already find many familiar points of reference at his new club.
At only 23 years old, Lucas Chevalier has a very large margin for improvement. With serious work and under Luis Enrique’s guidance, the French international is expected to quickly rise in level and prove the wisdom of this signing.
Still euphoric from the European triumph last May, there is no doubt that Parisian supporters will give their new goalkeeper a warm welcome.
