It’s now official: Lucas Chevalier, the 23-year-old goalkeeper, has left LOSC to sign with Paris Saint-Germain. Speaking to PSG TV, the French international shared his first thoughts and highlighted the presence of Luis Enrique as coach of the Parisian club, which greatly influenced his decision.
Luis Enrique: “I felt a real interest on his part in me coming here.”
Did Luis Enrique’s presence influence your decision?
“Of course. He’s a coach with a very particular style of play. The goalkeeper’s role is very important in his system; he expects us to be active participants in the game and to bring real added value. The fact that he saw that in me is very flattering and motivates me even more. It’s up to me to return the favor.
I like his energy on the sidelines, even in small details like goal celebrations: you feel a sense of cohesion, a real collective strength. I also had a chance to talk with him, and I sensed a genuine interest on his part in having me come here. With the season the Club just had, he may be the best coach in the world today.”
Luis Enrique has left his mark on PSG since his arrival in the summer of 2023. It’s no secret that the Spanish coach works closely with his sporting director Luis Campos to secure the best possible signings. Lucas Chevalier has joined the capital club because Enrique saw him as a player capable of strengthening the team.
At just 23 years old, Lucas Chevalier is the perfect player for the Parisian project, which is based primarily on youth. The French goalkeeper is not a bet on the future, but a signing for the present and the future. He has already confirmed the extent of his talent and is expected to take several more steps forward within this Parisian team and under the Spanish tactician.
