Like the other members of the Paris Saint-Germain squad, fresh from their Champions League triumph, 28-year-old striker Ousmane Dembélé is preparing for the Club World Cup (June 15 – July 13). Speaking to France Football, the Ballon d’Or 2025 contender talks about the competition and expectations for the club.

Dembélé “I think it’s going to be a great Club World Cup.”

Now you’re off to the Club World Cup. You never stop (since then, he has been injured in blue and will miss at least the first match against Atlético)…

“Yes, it’s a crazy rhythm. That’s soccer and I love it. With Paris-Saint-Germain, we want to win every trophy we can. The Club World Cup is one of our objectives. We need to have that mentality, that’s what the coach tells us every day. We’ve got to get back into the swing of things. Especially as we have a complicated group with Atlético Madrid, who beat us in the Champions League (1-2, November 6, 2024). That was our worst game of the season. We’ll see how it goes. I think it’s going to be a great Club World Cup.”

As reigning European champions, you’re going to have your work cut out for you.

“The president has told us that we have to keep working and keep winning titles with this group, which is so young. That’s the mentality of this club, and that’s also the coach’s state of mind on a daily basis. We still have four or five years ahead of us to win as many trophies as possible. We’re going to the Club World Cup to win.”

After all the intensity since January, it’s only natural that some players are running out of energy. But after their Champions League success two weeks ago, PSG will be keen to continue their reign and conquer the world after Europe. Winners of every trophy ever presented to them, the club from la Capitale can achieve a historic quintuple.

Of course, this is an added incentive for Luis Enrique’s men. Fans, too, are keen to see their club continue its reign. To do so, they will have to overcome Atlético Madrid, PSG’s first European opponents, this Sunday.
