Every year, the Laureus World Sports Awards honor the best athletes from around the world across all disciplines. Awards include titles such as Best Team, Breakthrough Player, and Best Person. Désiré Doué, the 20-year-old midfielder/forward for Paris Saint-Germain and the French national team, is among the nominees for Breakthrough Player of the Year.

Despite facing criticism at the end of 2024, Doué has taken a significant step forward in his adaptation to PSG and reminded everyone that he is a special talent by playing a major role in a historic 2025 for the club. His inclusion in this selection confirms this, and he could even be aiming for an honorary award. Winning will be difficult against such strong competition, but simply being nominated is already a great achievement.
