For the elbow he threw at Xavi Simons during the match against Tottenham, Lucas Hernandez had initially been handed a three-match suspension. Paris Saint-Germain subsequently appealed and obtained a one-match reduction for their 29-year-old defender, as reported by Le Parisien.
“Ultimately, UEFA reviewed the 2018 World Cup winner’s suspension downward. Paris Saint-Germain’s appeal proved successful. The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body of the European governing body reduced the sanction to two matches. Hernandez has already served one — against the Basque side — and will now only miss the match against the Lisbon club, as Paris are well positioned in this Champions League league phase.”
Hernandez, who already served one match during the 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao, will therefore miss the trip to face Sporting Portugal on Matchday 7, but will be available again for the home game against Newcastle (Matchday 8). A welcome boost in a schedule that is set to remain very demanding.
