Jean-Louis Gasset was assistant to Laurent Blanc when he coached Paris Saint-Germain (2013-2016), and is now in charge of Montpellier Hérault Sporting Club. Always attentive to his former club’s performances, Gasset spoke at a press conference about the development of 27-year-old striker Ousmane Dembélé and his management by coach Luis Enrique.
Gasset: “They’re a cut above the rest”.
“In Europe, teams can worry, because they’re a machine (…) The coach manages conversations. Incredibly, Dembélé as number 9 is the idea of the century and it’s all down to the coach. Paris now seems unplayable, they’re above everyone else”.
Enrique’s version of PSG is unanimously acclaimed. Whether in the style of play he imposes or in the development of each of his players, young or more experienced, everything brings real satisfaction. Of course, we’re now at a point in the season where all the hard work has to come to fruition.
While everything seems to be going perfectly on the domestic front, there are still a number of steps to be taken in the Champions League. There is hope that this team will lift the trophy. But there are a few more stages to go before that, and one of them takes place this Wednesday against Aston Villa.
