Achraf Hakimi, the 26-year-old right-back for Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco, recently made headlines by claiming he’s a contender for the 2025 Ballon d’Or. His agent, Alejandro Camaño, was invited by Winwinallsport to discuss this topic. He made some very strong comments.
“he is the best player in the world in his position, equal to, and why not even surpassing, the historic greats.”
“The last six seasons of Hakimi have all been proof that he is a decisive player, winning collective titles at the highest level with Real Madrid, Dortmund, Inter, and now PSG. He embodies the evolution of the modern attacking game, where a wide player — defensive in position but offensive by nature — has given greater power to the play of the teams he has played for, including his national team. In my opinion, he is the best player in the world in his position, equal to, and why not even surpassing, the historic greats.”
“For Hakimi, it is a source of pride to share with his current PSG teammates the chance of winning this award.
“For Hakimi, it is a source of pride to share with his current PSG teammates, and even with his close friend Dembélé, the chance of winning this award. All hardworking, fighting wide players should feel represented in him, because they too can aspire to such an important prize.”
“It would be unfair not to recognize the greatness of the work done by PSG, which has led to so many of its players being nominated — through a football that their coach has elevated by giving importance to aesthetics, speed, and ultimately to good play. This year PSG have improved the aesthetic quality of their football, and fans are happy to see this team across Europe.”
“Hakimi represents a generation of Moroccans who have taken a big step forward in international football. And this is not against Dembélé — it is in favor of football, that so many players bring us joy through what we love: FOOTBALL.”
Obviously, the agent speaks highly of his player. It would be strange if the media did otherwise. But he is also very clear that there is some truth in this statement. Hakimi is an exceptional player, both athletically and tactically. He is undoubtedly one of the best right-backs in the world. We leave the debate to determine whether he is number 1, whether he is one of the greatest in history. It’s a vast subject and we wouldn’t necessarily be objective. Like the agent.
But Hakimi seems like a candidate for the Ballon d’Or Golden. We don’t really understand the controversy created by the player’s comments. He asked a question about it, he was honest. And quite fair. This doesn’t mean there’s jealousy or worries within the squad. They know they’re in the running and can have hope. But they will also understand that someone else is needed, in order to overcome the disappointment.
There’s no need to find controversy. The fans and the media need to relax a little on the subject. Let’s just let PSG move forward and we’ll see how the votes turn out.
