This Thursday, May 14th, having just officially secured the 2025-2026 French league title last night, Paris Saint-Germain has another event to celebrate: the birthday of Marquinhos, the central defender and captain, who turns 32 today.
Arriving in 2013 from AS Roma as a promising young talent, Marquinhos had to fight to establish himself. He was fortunate to learn alongside great players in every position, but it’s also difficult to earn playing time against the likes of David Luiz, Thiago Silva, or Alex. However, little by little, with his game intelligence, determination, and precision, the Brazilian has become an important figure in Paris.
After forming a superb partnership with Thiago Silva, he even succeeded him as captain. His struggle didn’t end there, as he was often a scapegoat during PSG’s disappointments.
Finally, after years of hardship and battles, Marquinhos was able to win the Champions League with PSG last season. And he is expected to start again on May 30th against Arsenal. This doesn’t stop some from still criticizing him, or even hoping for his departure. But he is undeniably a great player and a PSG legend. Hoping for another night that confirms this, we wish him a happy birthday.
