Claude Makélélé, former midfielder for the French national team (71 caps), Real Madrid (2000–2003), Chelsea (2003–2008), and Paris Saint-Germain (2008–2011), spoke to Trivela. When asked which player he would add to Real Madrid, he named Marquinhos, the 31-year-old central defender and captain of PSG.
Makélélé: “He’s my dream player”
“My dream signing for Real Madrid?
I’ve always wanted to see Marquinhos at Real. He’s at the peak of his career — his patience, his work ethic, his passion… he’s my dream player for this Real Madrid. On top of that, he knows Kylian Mbappé well. There are very few defenders who can play one-on-one so effortlessly — he does it with ease. Of course, he’s currently playing for the best team in the world, PSG. Paris will never let him go.”
Marquinhos can certainly appreciate such high praise coming from one of football’s greats. The Brazilian was often criticized by so-called “experts” and fans in the past, used as a scapegoat whenever PSG failed to win. But it’s become clear that, within a solid collective and a well-balanced defense, the captain thrives at the highest level.
He would no doubt be a great addition for Real Madrid — or any major club — but as Makélélé pointed out, Marquinhos belongs at PSG. He remains deeply committed to the club and continues to be one of its most reliable leaders, with still more to achieve in Paris
