Joshua Kimmich, the 31-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder/right-back, faced the media after the 4-3 victory against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final second leg (6-4 on aggregate). He was naturally asked to turn his attention to the semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain (April 28 and May 6).
“The two best teams in Europe will face off. We’ve played many high-level matches against Paris in recent years. I can’t wait,” he said, as reported by 90min.
These straightforward comments seem to get straight to the point. Two superb teams will battle for a place in the final, possibly the “two best” at the moment. The outcome is very difficult to predict; everything could hinge on a moment of brilliance or a memorable play. And both sides are capable of that. We expect a very high-level semi-final, and everyone is eager for it. Even so, we mustn’t forget the domestic matches in the meantime.
