On Monday, after the 34th and final matchday played on Sunday evening, L’Equipe unveiled its Team of the Season for 2025-2026, based on the average ratings given in each match. Paris Saint-Germain unsurprisingly features, but only one player: Ousmane Dembélé (29-year-old forward). RC Lens takes the prize for best coach (Pierre Sage) and best team.

This is always a somewhat unusual Team of the Season, as it’s based on average ratings rather than selecting the best players. Ratings also reflect expectations, and we know that PSG and its players are under particular pressure. It takes something special to shine, and disappointment can quickly follow. This explains why the French champions only have one player in this eleven.
However, the merit of the players included, who performed well this season, should not be overlooked. The same goes for Lens coach Pierre Sage and his team. This remains something interesting and we should appreciate having quality in the championship.
