Match schedule for matchday 33.
PSG are already champions, while Montpellier are sure of a place in Ligue 2. So the result doesn’t really matter. It’s all about having fun and defending the club’s colors, of course.
The trip by Olympique de Marseille (2nd) to Le Havre (16th) will be far more important for Ligue 1. The former need to pick up points, while the race for Europe is terribly tight. There’s a chance of going down quickly and having regrets. Watch out for Les Havrais, who are doing their utmost to stay up, despite currently being in the play-off positions. The match promises to be intense.
The same can be said of Monaco (3rd) and Lyon (7th), both contenders for Europe. In fact, Lyon need a win to keep alive their hopes of reaching next season’s Champions League. The Monegasques have no easy task. Nice (4th) travel to a club with little at stake, but slackening off could also help Rennes (11th) put in a fine performance.
Lille (5th) will also have to be wary of Brest (9th), who failed to qualify for Europe for the second time in a row, but have what it takes to annoy everyone in Ligue 1. While Strasbourg (6th) will be favourites at Angers (14th), but let’s not get carried away after last weekend’s win over PSG. The Angevins have a place in Ligue 1 to keep and will be ready to fight.
In terms of staying up, Nantes (15th) can hope to pick up points from Auxerre (10th), who have little left to play for. Auxerre, however, have been doing very well of late, now that the pressure is off.
There’s also the tense duel between Reims (13th), who can hope to secure their place in the relegation zone with a win, and the Stéphanois, who need a win to avoid being officially relegated to Ligue 2.
