PSG had a slightly more complicated period, and some were already predicting drama. Granted, they’re no longer alone at the top of Ligue 1, and Monaco seem well equipped to compete this season.

But we saw against Rennes that the Parisians are capable of great things. And this despite a number of absences.

It was also a blow to the pressure on the chasing pack. As mentioned earlier, Monaco were able to follow through, albeit narrowly, with the winning goal in the 98th minute to defeat Montpellier, who have been struggling this season.

OM, for their part, suffered their first defeat of the season, as they travelled to Strasbourg, a trip that promises to be a tough one. Les Marseillais will need to know how to react to this setback.

Elsewhere, Reims put the pressure on in a fine start to the season confirmed by Angers, stuck in last place, while Saint-Etienne made up for their 8-0 defeat by Nice with a 2-2 draw against Nantes, who are gradually slipping back down the table.

Last but not least, LOSC and Lens drew in a derby that no-one can be happy about.
