On matchday 7 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain will face Lille at the Stade Pierre Mauroy this Sunday at 8:45 PM CET. This match could allow them to finish in first place before the October break with a resounding victory. Other teams also have the opportunity to head into the break with confidence.

PSG recently pulled off a significant win in Barcelona despite several absences and hopes to travel to Lille with some players returning. Whether those players are confirmed as available or not, the goal will be to deliver another strong team performance and secure the victory. This would be a great way to end the week, likely securing first place in Ligue 1 (at least on goal difference). Be warned, Lille has a team that can cause real problems. But PSG will need to have recovered well from their trip to Rome on Thursday for the Europa League.

Lyon, who were also playing in European competition on Thursday, have the “advantage” of playing at home again. This could allow them to build on their very good start to the season against a Toulouse team that is currently struggling. Of course, we know that football is never that simple.

Marseille, in 3rd place, should be able to put pressure on their opponents with a trip to Metz. The 18th-placed team could take advantage of this opportunity for a significant win before the break, but there is also the risk of being crushed by a confident Marseille side. Marseille should be careful not to overdo it.

Monaco, in 4th place, will want to capitalize on their southern derby against a very inconsistent Nice team. Monaco have had some disappointing lapses, but they have also shown some impressive qualities at times. Like on Wednesday night against Manchester City. They will need to confirm this form to head into the break with confidence. Strasbourg, in 5th place, is also in a good position to do so by hosting Angers. But, here too, they need to have fully recovered from their European match. As for Angers, in 17th place, even a point would be a huge boost. Behind this impressive top five (six, if you include Lille), Lens (7th) and Rennes (8th) need to stay focused. Failing to win against Auxerre (14th) and Le Havre (15th) would be a disappointment. This is the time for them to firmly establish themselves in the title race. Even if their opponents aren’t planning to make it easy.

Finally, there’s Nantes (16th), who desperately need a win in this derby to pull themselves out of their current predicament. For Brest, this match could be a turning point, potentially propelling them towards a European spot or relegating them to the lower-mid-table, or even further down.
