On Matchday 1 of Ligue 1 2025-2026, Paris Saint-Germain won 0-1 against Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire. A match that allows them to be among those starting with three points.

In the opening match, OM pulled off the worst performance of the weekend, while Rennes struck hard by winning despite a red card in the 31st minute. Marseille are already under a bit of pressure. Nice too, still very mixed in their play and beaten at home by Toulouse shortly after their elimination in the preliminary round of the Champions League (relegated to the Europa League) following two defeats against Benfica.

Other expected “big” teams, Lyon and Monaco, have also made successful debuts. Nothing came easy for Lyon in Lens; it was more “safe” for Monaco against Le Havre. We also note the very spectacular match between Brest and Lille, which is always appreciated. Even if a draw doesn’t help anyone in terms of the score.

There was also Paris FC’s defeat in their first match after promotion to Ligue 1, a frustrating setback against Angers, who opened the scoring early and then received a red card in the 57th minute. The Parisians dominated (17 shots to 8, 69% possession) but couldn’t find the opening goal.

Finally, PSG won masterfully in Nantes, even though they had to be patient with a reshuffled team. Nantes tried to adapt by being more defensive and may feel like they’re not far behind. But that leaves 0 points with very few chances.
