On Matchday 26 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain played against Nantes at the Parc des Princes after the match was postponed to the week of Wednesday, April 22nd, while the other matches were played this past weekend. Despite this, Paris retained its first place in the standings, as the race for European qualification tightened even further.

PSG was merely an observer this weekend, as it prepares for the Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Chelsea on Tuesday, and the news was good: Lens lost to Lorient and missed the opportunity to take first place. However, Lens dominated against a team in good form: 6 shots to 17 (3 on target to 6), 39% possession, and 1 corner to 10 in favor of the Blood and Gold.

This is all the more bad news for them given Olympique de Marseille’s victory against Auxerre, a disappointing 1-0 win that didn’t generate much joy. Except that it’s important in the standings, while Auxerre’s relegation to Ligue 2 seems inevitable.

Especially since Olympique Lyonnais, between their Europa League Round of 16 matches and a lengthy injury list, couldn’t find the resources to win in Le Havre despite a Le Havre player being sent off in the 55th minute. It’s a nice win for Le Havre during a difficult period, but painful points dropped for Lyon.

Just behind, Lille won a crucial match for European qualification, overtaking Stade Rennais and halting their four-game winning streak. However, Lille, often wasteful in 2026, were outplayed: Rennes outshot them 11-5. But it’s worth remembering that efficiency is a key element of football.

AS Monaco, meanwhile, secured a victory despite the challenges posed by Brest, confirming their excellent form and their place in the race for European spots. This still seems too far off for Brest, who have now seen Lorient overtake them, keeping their European dreams alive.

Strasbourg’s manager has been a glaring weakness, and a clear separation is emerging after seventh place. A real disappointment at home against a Paris FC side that has struggled recently, though they can always be a troublesome opponent. For their part, the Parisians earned a vital point to avoid the relegation zone.

On the relegation front, Nice finally breathed a sigh of relief with a convincing win in Angers. This is reassuring after a long period of crisis. However, confirming this form will be difficult before the international break next weekend with the visit of PSG. Then there was the devastating defeat for Metz, who fought hard to hold Toulouse to a draw after trailing 0-2 and 2-3, equalizing at 3-3 in the 88th minute, before succumbing in stoppage time (90+9).
