As it does after every season’s championship, L’Équipe has compiled its team of the year for Matchday 8 of Ligue 1 2025-2026, which took place this weekend. With its 3-3 draw against Strasbourg (PSG/Strasbourg video recap) at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain saw one of its players selected.
Seeing Warren Zaïre-Emery (19-year-old midfielder) in this team of the year isn’t a complete surprise, but we’re not used to finding a PSG player after anything other than a victory. This underlines how fit Le Titi was. It’s also particularly noteworthy because he’s coming off a difficult period. It’s a pleasure to see a young French talent succeed in expressing himself. We can only hope he can continue on this path and put his doubts far behind him.
It’s quite logical not to find another Parisian, even if there were some good performances. It wasn’t enough to win against Strasbourg, who had two players, or here against other players who did great things and deserve to be in the spotlight. There are some great qualities in Ligue 1, we have to take advantage of them.
