At the end of the year, there are often the standard teams from the first half of the current season. But also those of the calendar year. That’s what L’Equipe is proposing this Sunday for Ligue 1, with an eleven-type for 2024. It features 7 Paris Saint-Germain players. They are Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola and Kylian Mbappé.

We won’t go into the debate about each of the players selected, as it could be interminable and everyone may have their own footballing sensibilities and criteria for such a standard team. Nevertheless, it would seem difficult to do without Hakimi, Vitinha, Dembélé or Barcola, who have often shone in Ligue 1 this year.

The presence of Mbappé may come as a surprise, given that he is no longer in Ligue 1 and has clearly turned over a new leaf. But we mustn’t forget that he was with PSG until June, and still scored quite a few goals, even if there was little controversy surrounding his somewhat diminishing playing time.

It’s worth noting here that the players who aren’t at PSG and who feature in this standard team could be interesting additions to the squad. Lucas Chevalier could even be a starter. However, there’s nothing to suggest that any of these players will be transferred any time soon.
