On Matchday 4 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain won 2-0 against Lens at the Parc des Princes. A match that cost three injuries, but allowed them to remain in the lead.

PSG managed to continue their winning ways, despite a difficult situation coming out of the international break and before the Champions League, with three additional injuries during the match: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Lee Kang-In, and Lucas Beraldo. The severity of the injuries remains to be seen, but at least the team remained strong and the victory was secured against a strong Lens team.

This allows them to take first place by points, not just goal difference, as Lyon collapsed late in the match while leading 0-1 in Rennes. The fault, in particular, was a red card (which is ironic given Rennes’ history with sending-offs) in the 75th minute, followed by goals conceded in the 79th minute and in added time. It’s a nice blow for Rennes, a difficult moment for Lyon.

Lille took advantage of this to move into second place, becoming the only team other than PSG not to have lost. This was thanks to a nice, but hard-to-come-by, win against Toulouse. Here again, a red card for Toulouse at 0-1 changed everything in the 80th minute, followed by goals in the 90th and 90+8 minutes for Lille.

OM started strongly and more “clearly” against Lorient, who had been struggling at the start of the season and were quickly red carded. But at least this time, Marseille didn’t waste their opportunity and built up confidence ahead of facing Real Madrid and PSG this week.

Up front, Monaco and Strasbourg confirmed their positions at the top of the table, even though the victories against Auxerre (1-2) and Le Havre (1-0) were far from straightforward.

In terms of relegation, Brest is starting to cause concern with another defeat, this time against Paris FC (a promoted team with a significant budget), and Metz picked up their first point against Angers. Which is better than nothing, but not much either.
