Paris Saint-Germain drew 2–2 against Lille this Friday at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Matchday 2 of the 2026–2027 Ligue 1 season. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke to Ligue1+.

Luis Enrique: “We improved on our performance from the last match.”

Does that feel good?

Yes—especially the watch [laughs]. I think I would have made the same statement even if we had lost, because I believe the result is fair. Lille played very well; they are a Champions League-level team. It has never been easy playing away from home, and it has never been easy playing against Lille. But I think we improved on our performance from the last match—we made fewer errors—and the final result is positive because we were pushing for goals right up to the end.

Luis Enrique: “I didn’t see any problem.”

It’s not enough, but we’ll take it for now? Was Zaïre-Emery struggling on the left flank?

I didn’t see any problem with Warren. For me, when you field a player like him—someone who can play anywhere… he played sensationally at right-back; the left side is a bit different, but he uses both feet. I didn’t see any problem.

We have one more point than last season after the matches against Rennes and Lille. That’s positive. We need to improve—that’s indisputable—but I’m happy with the team’s performance, even though, of course, we expect much more.

Luis Enrique: “We aren’t physically sharp.”

The physical side isn’t quite there yet—will that come later?

We aren’t physically sharp at the moment, but we need to create even more chances. That was difficult because they are a team that knows how to defend, particularly with a low block. There’s no space. I’m happy with the players who came into the match because they’re making the most of their minutes.
