Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 against Lorient this Wednesday at the Stade du Moustoir in Matchday 10 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Enrique: “It’s very difficult because we need points.”
Do you think Paris underperformed?
“Especially in the first half, since we didn’t create any chances, we didn’t win any one-on-ones, and we had problems with their deep-lying defense. We know this phase of play well. It’s a shame, because we score and they equalize on the very next play. We improved in the second half. But it’s very difficult because we need points.”
Even more serious, the injury to Désiré Doué?
“It’s always bad news when there are injuries. This one is a strange injury, but I don’t know the extent of it yet. I hope it’s not too serious. For now, I prefer to focus on the fact that all the players are available for the team. We’ll have to wait to find out more about Désiré’s injury.”
Did seeing him cry worry you?
“When you’re a professional player, you know that the accumulation of matches during this period, with the national team… We know that injuries are part of the job.”
Enrique: “For my team and my job, it’s frustrating.”
Were you disappointed in your players today? Both the younger players and the veterans?
“No, it was a very difficult match for the whole team. The frustration lies with me because I wasn’t able to help my team the way they needed it. For my team and my job, it’s frustrating.”
Hey, I said it yesterday that it would be complicated. I’ve seen this type of match many times; if you’re not in rhythm in the first half, it’s extra motivation for the opponent. When you think you have time to turn things around and you don’t, it’s difficult.
Enrique: “I said yesterday that it would be difficult to win, but nobody believed me.”
Do you feel that PSG is less impressive this season?
“Is that the impression you get? The way everyone defends against us, I feel like we’re respected. Today, we didn’t deserve the victory. Congratulations to Lorient, who defended very well.
That’s football. You have to be able to stay focused for 90 minutes; it’s important to win this type of match. I said yesterday that it would be difficult to win, but nobody believed me.”
