Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique spoke to PSG TV about the start of the team’s stay in the USA for the Club World Cup (June 15 – July 13). The coach emphasized the desire to play in this great competition and the mentality in the group, looking ahead to the first match this Sunday against Atlético Madrid (kick-off 9pm, broadcast on DAZN and TF1).
Luis Enrique “Playing in the Club World Cup is fantastic”.
“The state of mind of the group?
It’s a very good feeling. We’re going to be playing in a unique, new competition. We’re very happy to be here, and now it’s time to recuperate before starting our preparations.
The Club World Cup?
Everyone involved is very nice! Playing in the Club World Cup is fantastic. We can’t wait to get training underway and start the competition next Sunday.
To have been crowned European champions for the first time in the club’s history is incredible for Paris Saint-Germain. Now it’s time to get back into the competition and win the Club World Cup.
Luis Enrique “we’re ready to take on any club.”
Atlético?
We’ll be kicking off the competition against a European club, Atlético de Madrid. We know each other very well, having played each other in the Champions League this season. It’ll be a tough match, but we’re ready to take on any club.”
It’s been a long season, but we know that Luis Enrique likes to stress that this is an excellent thing. It means that the work is well done, that PSG is important and that there are trophies to be won. After the Champions League, to follow it up will be very significant in terms of history and the global image today.
Perhaps the hardest part has already been done. However, the forthcoming competition is also beautiful and must be a goal. Without, of course, making a big deal of a defeat. The Parisians need to attack their matches with the same seriousness and solidarity, without putting any particular pressure on themselves.
This team is capable of winning against anyone, and they’ve proved that enough over the course of the season. But there’s never a guarantee before a match. Every match will be tough. Let’s hope that the start against Atlético will enable us to make a good start.
