Paris Saint-Germain defeated Olympique Lyonnais 3-2 this Sunday at Parc OL in Matchday 12 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Enrique: “It’s important to win, to be top of the table.”
Yesterday you called for resilience; did this victory stem from that?
“It’s a word I like. We showed the right, precise mentality to win the match. We scored, and Lyon equalized. And so on. At 2-2, it was difficult. We didn’t have time to control the game. It’s important to win, to be top of the table, because you have to win matches when things get tough.”
Are you satisfied with Warren Zaïre-Emery’s performance?
“This is a more confident Warren this season. He can play anywhere. He’s very effective. He’s a real asset. It’s important to have players who can play in multiple positions when we’re struggling. We’ll keep going, we still need to improve defensively. We made two mistakes. We need to know when to push the defensive line forward and when not to.”
Enrique: “The mistake wasn’t the goalkeeper’s, but the defending players’.”
How do you explain the mistake on Lyon’s second goal?
“The mistake wasn’t the goalkeeper’s, but the defending players’. We have to push the line forward if we’re pressing the ball, otherwise we have to run after the player. These are individual errors that need to be corrected.”
A word on João Neves, who scored against Bayern Munich and Lyon?
“All the players are important, especially those who score! I hope to have most of the players back and be able to have a normal season. Since the start of this season, nothing has been normal.”
Are you satisfied with Kang-In Lee’s performance?
“I want to congratulate him on his 100th match with PSG. He takes corners and he does it very well. I can see that clearly. He has quality. We know him perfectly. He’s different. He’s looking to improve, like all players.”
