Franco Mastantuono, a 17-year-old attacking midfielder under contract to River Plate until December 2026, is a new talent on the Argentine soccer scene. He has recently been announced as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s concrete leads for the mercato. Fabrizio Romano claims that the clause initially valued at €45m is actually €55m (+ €10m tax), as River Plate have reportedly indicated. Real Madrid are still interested, as are PSG.
Competition between PSG and Real Madrid for Franco Mastantuono is fierce: Paris is going all out, while Madrid is playing on its prestige. However, despite the best efforts of both clubs, it’s the player’s desire that will decide. If Mastantuono dreams of Real Madrid, PSG will have to move on: in this kind of battle, it’s impossible to force the hand of a talent who doesn’t want to come to Paris. There are other players on the market.
