Having arrived in 2021 from Sporting Portugal, Nuno Mendes has been quick to show that he has great qualities. Unsurprisingly, Paris Saint-Germain wanted to secure the 22-year-old left-back’s future with a contract extension. There was talk of a deal almost being finalized, but lately it’s been further away. Djamel took stock of the situation on Sunday.
“Nuno Mendes has NOT yet signed an extension, but talks with PSG are ADVANCED!
The Portuguese has made it clear to the club that he wants to be part of the project.
However, a number of big-name European clubs are circling the full-back.”
This is a relatively weak source, so we can at least assume that the extension is not yet certain and that clubs would like to take advantage of it. This would be logical, given Nuno Mendes’ talent and the scarcity of top-level full-backs.
However, it is also stressed that the Portuguese is involved in the project and the signing of the new contract remains entirely possible. We’ll have to wait and see. Confidence is still possible, even if there is a slight worry.
