Matvey Safonov, the 26-year-old goalkeeper who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain last summer from Krasnodar with a contract running until 2029, has been blocked in a number 2 role by Gianluigi Donnarumma (26). This has fuelled a number of departure rumours this mercato. Speaking to Sport 24, the Russian international responded.
Safonov “The rest is untrustworthy.”
“When was this news broadcast? At night? I was asleep. I think you should only believe information from official media. The rest is untrustworthy,” Foot Mercato reports.
It’s hard to do better than that, as Safonov is currently ruling out the idea of a transfer. We also appreciate his reminder of the need for caution in the face of rumors, something we repeat very often.
For the moment, there’s nothing concrete to suggest that the Russian is on the way out. Perhaps this will change as the summer progresses, as the mercato can move very quickly. But there’s no need to bother with that now. Eventually, the issue of whether or not to extend the contract of Gianluigi Donnarumma (26) will have a clear impact.
