Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (2nd), held a press conference this Friday ahead of facing Metz (18th) at the Stade Saint-Symphorien tomorrow (kick-off at 7pm, CET) as part of the 16th matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026. On the sidelines of this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “What we like is that all the players are ready.”
Could Safonov’s performances challenge the goalkeeping hierarchy?
What we like is that all the players are ready. Safonov has shown that he’s ready; he’s in great form. And that’s very important for the team.
Is it essential to be able to count on everyone?
This year especially, because we’ve had more injuries. But no more than other teams, and we’ve shown that we can overcome these difficulties to get results.
Luis Enrique: “When you come to PSG, you have to know that the club gives you opportunities. But you have to show a lot of quality and character.”
A tricky match against the 18th-placed team?
It’s part of being a coach to know that when you play against an opponent who’s low in the standings, it’s always a difficult match. You have to know how to attack against a rival with a low block. It’s only three days after the last match, and those three points are crucial.
Any youth players still on the pitch?
They’re all already with us! (laughs) They’re important to us. You have to know that when you come to PSG, the club offers opportunities. But you have to show a lot of quality and personality.
