Paris Saint-Germain defeated AS Monaco 2-4 on Wednesday at the Stade Louis II in the advanced match of Matchday 16 of Ligue 1 2024-2025. After the match, Paris coach Luis Enrique spoke to beIN SPORTS. The Spaniard expressed his satisfaction with the match, and was keen to point out that the refereeing was, at the very least, surprising. He also commented on the position of João Neves (20-year-old midfielder) in the match.

Is a 10-point lead over Monaco a big one?

Yes, we’ve achieved our objectives. It was a very difficult match from the start. I think we were up to the task at all times. They regained the lead with two quick goals, but I’m very satisfied with what I saw.

What happened with Donnarumma? The penalty?

I can’t do anything about it, those are the facts. I can’t see the action, it’s a shame. It’s always difficult. The players have no intention of hurting anyone, so it’s difficult to referee this kind of match. It’s difficult to referee this kind of match. You can have mixed opinions, and what’s more, I’m not talking about the refereeing job, I find it very difficult.

Luis Enrique “We have great resources”.

Neves has moved back into midfield after starting on the left?

Today, Joao started at left-back and we want to preserve Lucas so that she recovers little by little. We don’t want to rush things. We had a few difficulties at the start and it’s good to have versatile players, it’s good to change positions. I think Joao played well on the left. We have great resources. I can change very easily.
